The horse is the domesticated form of Equus caballus, shaped over thousands of years for riding, driving, draft work, racing, sport, ranch use, therapy, meat, milk, and companionship. Horses range from small hardy ponies to tall warmbloods and heavy draft animals, but they share the same basic grazing anatomy, herd instincts, flight response, and need for steady movement.
