The Italian Heavy Draft, known as "Cavallo Agricolo Italiano da Tiro Pesante Rapido," is a robust and versatile draft horse breed originating from Italy. Developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by crossing native Italian horses with Ardennes and Breton stock, this breed was specifically designed to meet the agricultural and industrial needs of the time. Standing between 15.2 to 16.2 hands high, the Italian Heavy Draft is renowned for its powerful build, characterized by a broad chest, muscular hindquarters, and sturdy legs.

Its coat can be chestnut, roan, or bay, often accompanied by a flaxen mane and tail, adding to its striking appearance.
