What is Creatures?

Creatures is an animal management platform where you can build detailed profiles for your animals, track health and care records, connect with boarding and transport services, and buy or sell animals when you’re ready. It’s designed for everyone from pet owners to breeders, farms, rescues, and sanctuaries. See how it works.

Is Creatures free to use?

Yes. Creating an account, building animal profiles, tracking records, and exploring the platform are all free. Fees only apply when you buy or sell an animal through the marketplace (5% buyer fee + 5% seller fee). Pro subscribers pay no seller fees.

Do I need to sell animals to use Creatures?

Not at all. Many users join Creatures simply to manage their animals’ profiles and records, build pedigrees, or find boarding. The marketplace is one feature among many, and you’re welcome to use the platform without ever listing an animal for sale.

Can I use Creatures for any type of animal?

Yes. Creatures supports all species, from dogs, cats, and horses to cattle, goats, poultry, exotics, and everything in between. The platform is built to be flexible for any animal you own or manage.

How is Creatures different from other platforms?

Most platforms focus on one thing: classifieds, registries, or record-keeping. Creatures brings profiles, health records, pedigrees, boarding, transportation, and a secure marketplace together in one place. How do I create an organization profile?

Animal Profiles

Build a complete digital identity for every animal you own or manage.

What information can I include on an animal profile?

Each profile supports photos, breed and species details, date of birth, sex, color/markings, registration numbers, lineage (sire and dam links), a free-text description, and current status (active, for sale, sold, deceased). You can also attach health and care records directly to the profile.

How do I link sires and dams to build a pedigree?

When editing an animal’s profile, you can search for and link its sire and dam from other profiles on Creatures. Once linked, the platform automatically builds a multi-generational pedigree tree that visitors can explore.

Can I keep an animal’s profile private?

Yes. You can set any animal profile to private so it’s only visible to you and any team members or co-owners you’ve added. Private profiles still let you use all record-keeping features.

Can I add team members or co-owners?

Yes. Organization accounts can invite team members who share access to animal profiles and records. You can also add co-owners to individual animals.

What happens to profiles if an animal is sold?

When ownership transfers through a Creatures transaction, the profile transfers with the animal to the new owner. All attached records come along too, so the complete history stays intact. Sellers keep a copy for their own records.

Animal Records

What types of records can I track?

Creatures supports 11 record types: Registration, Pedigree, Certification, Test Results, Vaccination, Medication, Reproductive, Routine Care, Examination, Surgery, and Reminders. Each record type has fields tailored to the information you need to capture.

Can I attach documents to records?

Yes. You can upload PDFs, images, and other files to any record. This is great for storing vet reports, registration certificates, lab results, and similar paperwork.

Can I set reminders for upcoming care?

Yes. The Reminders record type lets you schedule alerts for vaccinations, vet visits, breeding dates, deworming, farrier appointments, and anything else you need to stay on top of.

What happens to records if an animal is sold?

When ownership transfers through a Creatures transaction, all attached records transfer with the animal. The new owner gets the complete history, and sellers keep a copy for their own records.

What tools does Creatures offer?

Creatures has a growing suite of free tools: Coat Color Calculators to predict offspring coat colors, Coat Color Visualizers to toggle genes and see results in real time, Animal Name Generators for creative naming ideas, and Organization Name Generators to find professional names for farms, ranches, and breeding programs.

Do I need an account to use the tools?

No. All tools are completely free and available to anyone at creatures.com/tools. No account, no login, no catch.

How do Coat Color Calculators work?

Select the species and breed, then input the known or suspected genotypes of the sire and dam. The calculator uses Punnett square logic to show you the probability of each possible coat color in the offspring.

What is the Coat Color Visualizer?

The visualizer lets you toggle individual genes on and off to see how they affect the animal’s appearance in real time. It’s a great way to learn how genetics translate into visible coat patterns and colors.

Calculators

What calculators are available?

Creatures currently offers Coat Color Calculators for predicting offspring genetics and Gestation Calculators for tracking pregnancy timelines and due dates by species.

How do Gestation Calculators work?

Select the species, enter the breeding date, and the calculator shows you the expected due date along with key milestones throughout the pregnancy. It supports a wide range of species with accurate gestation periods.

Are the calculators accurate?

Yes. Coat color calculators are based on established genetics research for each breed. Gestation calculators use species-specific average gestation periods. As with any tool, individual animals may vary, so always consult your veterinarian for medical decisions.

Can I save or share calculator results?

You can share results by copying the URL, which includes your selected inputs. Bookmark it or send it to a fellow breeder to discuss the results together.

Boarding Services

Find a place for your animals or list your property as a boarding location.

How do I find boarding for my animals?

Browse boarding listings on Creatures to find providers near you or in your desired area. Each listing includes property details, available species, pricing, and photos. You can apply directly through the platform. How to apply for boarding.

How do I list my property as a boarding location?

Create a boarding listing from your dashboard. You’ll describe your property, specify which species and breeds you can accommodate, set pricing, upload photos, and create a custom application form for prospective boarders. Step-by-step guide.

How does the boarding application process work?

Boarding providers create custom application forms with the questions they need answered. Animal owners submit applications through the platform, and providers can review, approve, or decline each request from their dashboard.

What does boarding cost?

Pricing is set by each boarding provider. Rates vary based on species, duration, and services included. All pricing is displayed on the boarding listing before you apply.

Can I use boarding for remote animal ownership?

Transportation

Move animals safely with delivery options, independent transporters, and platform-managed transport.

How do I arrange transportation for an animal?

There are three options. Sellers can offer delivery with custom rates on their listings. Independent transporters list standalone transport services. And Creatures Transport provides platform-managed moves, either direct or shared load, with real-time tracking. Visit our Help Center.

What is Creatures Transport?

Creatures Transport is our platform-managed transportation service. We coordinate the pickup, route, and delivery of your animal. Funds are held in escrow until delivery is confirmed, and you can track the move in real time.

How does transport tracking work?

Once a transport is underway, you’ll receive real-time status updates through the platform. You’ll know when your animal has been picked up, where it is in transit, and when delivery is confirmed.

Can I offer transport services on Creatures?

Yes. If you’re a professional transporter, you can create transport service listings on Creatures. Set your service area, vehicle details, species you transport, and pricing.

Buying on Creatures

Find your next animal with confidence, backed by buyer protection on every transaction.

How do I find animals for sale?

Browse listings by species, breed, location, price range, and other filters. You can also follow specific breeders or organizations to get notified when they post new listings.

How do I make a purchase?

When you find an animal you want, click “Buy Now” on fixed-price listings or place a bid during auction events. Payment is processed securely through the platform via credit card or bank transfer. How to bid on a listing.

What is CreatureShield?

CreatureShield is our buyer protection program included on every transaction. It covers you if the animal doesn’t match the listing description, if the seller fails to deliver, or if other issues arise. You can file a claim through your dashboard.

Can I ask questions before buying?

Yes. Every listing has a public comment thread where you can ask the seller questions. All buyers can see previous questions and answers, which keeps the process transparent.

How do reviews work for buyers?

After a transaction is complete, both buyer and seller can leave verified reviews. Reviews are tied to real transactions, so you can trust the ratings you see on a seller’s profile.

What payment methods are accepted?

Creatures accepts credit cards and bank transfers (ACH). All payments are processed securely through the platform. You never need to send money directly to a seller.

What fees do buyers pay?

Buyers pay a 5% fee on top of the listing price. This fee funds CreatureShield buyer protection, secure payment processing, and platform support. There are no additional processing charges on any payment method.

Selling on Creatures

List animals for sale, manage inquiries, and get paid securely.

How do I list an animal for sale?

Create an animal profile (or use an existing one), then click “List for Sale.” Set your price, add photos and a description, choose whether to offer delivery, and publish. Your listing will be visible to buyers browsing the platform. Step-by-step guide.

Can I run an auction?

Yes. Creatures supports auction events where multiple sellers can list animals for timed bidding. This is a popular format for breeders and organizations running production sales. Learn more about sale events.

What fees do sellers pay?

Sellers pay a 5% fee on completed sales. Pro subscribers ($49.95/month or $499/year) pay no seller fees, keeping 100% of the sale price.

How do I get paid?

Payments are processed through the platform and deposited to your connected bank account. You’ll receive funds after the buyer confirms receipt of the animal.

How do I offer delivery on my listings?

When creating a listing, you can enable a delivery option and set custom rates based on distance or flat fees. Buyers will see your delivery pricing and can choose it at checkout.

Can I sell from an organization account?

Yes. Organizations (breeders, rescues, farms, sanctuaries) can list animals for sale under their organization profile. Team members with the right permissions can manage listings on behalf of the organization.

Sale Events

Organized auction and fixed-price events that bring breeders and buyers together.

What are sale events?

Sale events let a group of sellers organize and run a sale together on Creatures. Each seller markets to their own community, pooling buyer audiences for bigger reach and better results. See how sale events work.

What types of events are available?

How do I join an event as a seller?

Browse upcoming events and apply with your listings. The event organizer reviews and approves seller applications. Once approved, your animals appear on the event page alongside other sellers’ listings. How to apply for an event.

How does sniping protection work?

If a bid comes in during the final two minutes of an auction, the entire event extends by two minutes. This keeps going until two full minutes pass with no new bids, so nobody gets outbid at the last second. How bidding works.

Are bids real and verified?

Yes. Every bid is backed by a 5% credit card pre-authorization hold. If you don’t win, the hold is released automatically. This ensures all bidders are real and committed.

Can I organize my own event?

Yes. Any organization on Creatures can create and host a sale event. You’ll set the event details, terms, commission rates, and approve which sellers can participate. What makes Creatures auctions unique.

What’s free and what comes with a Pro subscription.

What features are included in a free account?

Free accounts include unlimited animal profiles, all 11 record types, pedigree building, document attachments, reminders, messaging, public comment threads, and access to boarding and transport listings. You can also list animals for sale with standard fees. See everything Creatures offers.

What does a Pro subscription include?

Pro subscribers ($49.95/month or $499/year) pay zero seller fees on all transactions. That means you keep 100% of the sale price. Pro is designed for active sellers who list regularly and want to maximize their return.

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Yes. You can cancel your Pro subscription at any time from your account settings. Your subscription benefits continue through the end of your current billing period.

Is there a free trial?

The core platform is entirely free, so there’s no need for a trial of basic features. For Pro, check the pricing page for any current promotional offers.

What are the verification levels?

Creatures offers multi-level verification: phone verification, government ID verification, and full KYC (Know Your Customer) verification. Higher verification levels increase your trust score and give buyers more confidence when transacting with you. Verification guide.

How do reviews work?

Reviews are tied to completed transactions. Both buyers and sellers can leave ratings and written feedback after a sale. Because reviews require a real transaction, they can’t be faked or manipulated.

What seller and buyer verification is required?

Phone verification is required to list animals for sale or make purchases. Government ID and KYC verification are optional but recommended, as they unlock higher trust levels and make your profile more credible to other users.

How does CreatureShield protect me?

CreatureShield is included on every transaction at no extra cost. It protects buyers if the animal doesn’t match the listing description or if the seller fails to deliver. Claims are reviewed by the Creatures team, and eligible buyers receive a full refund.

Can I follow breeders or organizations?

Yes. Follow any breeder, farm, rescue, or organization to receive notifications when they post new listings, add animals, or host auction events.

How do breed and species directories work?

Creatures maintains directories organized by breed and species. These pages help buyers discover animals and help sellers get found through organic search. Your listings and profiles automatically appear in the relevant directories.

Can I participate in auction events?

Yes. Auction events are hosted by breeders and organizations on the platform. As a buyer, you can browse upcoming auctions, register to bid, and participate in real-time bidding. As a seller, you can create or join auction events to reach more buyers at once. Learn more about sale events.

How do I create an account?

Visit creatures.com/signin and sign up with your email address. You can start creating animal profiles and exploring the platform immediately.

How do I reset my password?

Click “Forgot Password” on the login page and enter your email address. You’ll receive a link to create a new password.

How do I contact support?

Email us at support@creatures.com, use the chat widget on the website, or call/text (434) 218-2178. We typically respond within 24 hours. You can also browse our Help Center for guides and tutorials.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Contact support to request account deletion. We’ll remove your personal data in accordance with our privacy policy. Note that transaction records may be retained for legal and financial compliance purposes.
