Mixed Breed
Mixed breed is the most honest label for a rabbit whose ancestry is blended, uncertain, or not tied to a recognized breed standard. Many pet rabbits fall into this category even when they resemble a lop, Dutch, Netherland Dwarf, Rex, Lionhead, or New Zealand in one obvious trait. Ear carriage, color, wool, or body size can hint at background, but those traits move easily through crossing and do not prove a breed by themselves.
Management should focus on the individual rabbit rather than a guessed label. Mature size affects housing and diet, coat type determines grooming, and head shape or tooth alignment may be more important than whether the rabbit has a tidy breed name. Rescues and sellers should describe visible traits plainly: small lop mix, rex-coated cross, woolly mixed rabbit, or unknown medium rabbit. That helps adopters plan care without turning a visual guess into a breeding or show claim.
