Rabbit Show Records: Keep Results, Certificates, and Official Claims Separate

Rabbit Show Records: Keep Results, Certificates, and Official Claims Separate

Author: Elliott Garber, DVM · Published

A ribbon, a class placement and an official title describe different things. A useful rabbit show record preserves the event and the exact result without turning every win into a championship claim. That makes the history easier for you, a judge or a future buyer to understand.

Creatures supports show results on an animal’s profile, including historical or off-platform results. Start with the correct rabbit profile (see the rabbit species page for breeds and care) and the original event evidence. A record you enter is still your report of that result unless the platform explicitly identifies a different source.

Identify the rabbit before the award

Compare the rabbit’s name and identifiers with the result sheet or certificate. Show paperwork may use a registered name, while your daily notes use a call name. Resolve that difference before attaching a result to the nearest matching profile.

If the pedigree itself needs work, use the rabbit pedigree import checklist first. A show record should not become the place where an uncertain identity is quietly treated as settled.

An animal needs an owner before a show result can be added. A lineage-only reference is not an owned show profile. The public, private and reference guide explains those distinctions.

Transcribe the result at its original level

Open the rabbit’s Records, then under Shows choose Show result for a historical or off-platform result. The general Add Record menu does not add show results. Enter the show name and the details you can support: date, location, judge, class, award, placement, class count, legs or a source URL where applicable.

Do not fill optional fields from memory just to avoid blanks. “First in class” is different from “best in show,” and the number in the class is different from the total number at the event. Preserve the exact scope stated by the source.

  • A class placement. Record it as: That class and placement. Do not automatically expand it to: Overall event winner.
  • A named award. Record it as: The award as written. Do not automatically expand it to: A registry title.
  • A reported leg. Record it as: The documented leg entry. Do not automatically expand it to: An automatically confirmed championship.
  • An official title certificate. Record it as: The title and issuing authority’s evidence. Do not automatically expand it to: A broader status the certificate does not grant.

Keep the source beside the entry during review. If a result sheet abbreviates a class or award, clarify the wording from the organizer’s materials rather than inventing a meaning.

Understand the source labels

Results judged and published through Creatures can carry the platform’s Verified badge. A self-reported result does not gain that badge because you attach a ribbon photo. Imported WinRbro results are another source and also do not receive that badge merely through import.

Visibility defaults differ by source: self-reported results are public by default, while imported WinRbro results are private by default. Review the actual setting instead of relying on the default you remember. A document may include contact details or other animals’ information that should not be exposed with a public result.

A public result and an official title remain separate claims. Record title progress and supporting evidence accurately, but let the relevant organization’s rules and confirmation determine whether an official title has been awarded. Creatures does not turn a number you typed into registry certification.

Have an issued title certificate? Add a Certification record with its issuer and evidence, and review Make public before saving. Any certificate image you attach becomes public with the record. Certification starts public on a public animal unless your account default makes new records private. A free account saves the record.

Record an issued title

Keep certificates and records organized

Keep registration papers on a Registration record, as the care, growth and identity records guide explains. Put an issued title certificate on its own Certification record with Certification Name, Issued By and Issue Date; Certificate Number is under Expand extra fields. Retain a readable original and enough context to connect it to the show result. A photograph of an unlabeled ribbon alone may not identify the rabbit, event or class.

If several results came from one weekend, enter the distinct classes or events carefully rather than duplicating the same award under slightly different names. Use dates, judge and class to distinguish them. Self-reported show results cannot currently be edited or deleted. If an official correction arrives, Hide the incorrect result and add a new, corrected result with the source URL and explanatory context. Show makes a hidden result public again; it does not edit its fields.

The animal Records tab helps you return to the wider history. Show achievements belong alongside identity and care records, but should not replace them when someone is evaluating the animal.

Check what another person will understand

Read the result from the profile as if you had never attended the event. Can you identify the show and class? Is the award described at the right level? Is the source clear? Does the visibility match your intention?

If you notice a duplicate, compare the underlying event before using Hide on the accidental repeat. Similar class names may be separate results; identical dates and awards may be accidental repetition. If the official paperwork is missing, describe the entry as your own report and seek the source rather than suggesting verification you cannot substantiate.

Finish with a history that celebrates the rabbit’s actual results and makes the evidence easy to inspect. Precision gives a modest class win more credibility than an unsupported grand claim.

The rabbit show guide explains the wider event and award context. The rabbit pedigree guide explains the separate ancestry document, which should not acquire a title merely because a self-entered show record exists.
