Belgian Blue

The Belgian Blue is a distinctive cattle breed renowned for its remarkable muscle development, which gives it a striking and robust appearance. Originating from Belgium, this breed showcases a unique genetic trait known as "double muscling," attributable to a natural mutation in the myostatin gene. As a result, Belgian Blues are characterized by their well-defined muscles, rounded contours, and significantly enhanced muscle mass compared to other cattle breeds.

These cattle exhibit a predominantly blue-grey coat, although white and black variations are also present. Their skin appears thin and their hair short, adding to the visibility of their musculature. Belgian Blues are often praised for their high feed efficiency and lean meat production, making them popular in beef production for producing premium-quality cuts with low-fat content.
