The Pony of the Americas (POA) is a versatile and charming American pony breed, well-loved for its distinctive appearance and gentle temperament. Originating in Iowa in the mid-20th century, the breed was developed by Leslie Boomhower, who aimed to create a pony that bridged the gap between ponies and horses, making it suitable for young riders transitioning to larger equines.

The POA showcases an Appaloosa-like spotted coat, combined with the compact, muscular build of its Shetland and Welsh pony ancestry. Typically standing between 11.2 and 14 hands high, these ponies are known for their balanced conformation, expressive eyes, and intelligent demeanor.
