Giant Angora
The Giant Angora is a large wool rabbit developed for serious fiber production, with more body size and commercial wool emphasis than the smaller Angora breeds. American lines are often associated with German Angora influence and selection for dense wool on a large frame. The breed may look imposing under a full coat, but the useful traits are wool yield, texture, body capacity, and the ability to stay healthy while carrying that fiber load.
Giant Angoras require planned grooming and harvest; they are not low-maintenance plush rabbits. Keepers need cool, dry housing, clean floors, and a schedule for clipping or shearing before wool mats or traps too much heat. Breeders watch growth, coat density, staple length, and temperament, while also selecting does that can raise litters despite heavy coats. Registry color rules can be narrow in some systems, so buyers should ask whether the rabbit is show-eligible or kept as a fiber animal. Practical ownership starts with having the right grooming tools ready.
