Continental Giant
The Continental Giant is a very large European domestic rabbit breed, often discussed alongside the Flemish Giant but maintained under its own show expectations in the UK and Europe. It is bred for length, bone, size, and a broad, imposing body while still needing enough balance to move soundly. Colors vary by registry, so the name describes the giant breed type rather than a single coat.
Keeping Continental Giants is a space and management commitment. Hutches, pens, carriers, and grooming routines must account for the rabbit's weight and reach, and slippery floors can create real strain on feet and joints. Breeders should not chase size alone; sound legs, fertility, temperament, and clean condition matter. Buyers should ask about adult weights in the family and see how the rabbits are housed before assuming a giant rabbit will fit a standard pet setup.
