British Toggenburg
The British Toggenburg is a dairy goat breed developed in Britain from Swiss Toggenburg blood and selected British dairy goats. It is larger and more British in type than the original Swiss Toggenburg, with erect ears, a strong milking frame, and the familiar Swiss-pattern markings. The coat is usually some shade of brown or chocolate, set off by pale facial stripes, white or light ears, light lower legs, and a pale area around the tail.
In dairy herds, British Toggenburgs are kept for steady milk production and are often seen in pedigree and show circles in the United Kingdom and countries that use British dairy goat standards. They do best with sound fencing, dry housing, good forage, and a milking ration matched to production. Buyers usually look at udder shape, feet, temperament on the stand, milk records, and herd health testing rather than color alone.
