Pomeranian

The Pomeranian, often referred to as a "Pom," is a small yet vivacious breed known for its fluffy double coat and fox-like face. Originating from the Pomerania region in what is now modern-day Poland and Germany, this breed was once much larger and served as a working dog. Today, Pomeranians are celebrated as lively and affectionate companions. They typically weigh between 3 to 7 pounds, making them one of the most compact members of the Spitz family. Pomeranians boast a distinctive plume of fur that stands out because of their abundant undercoat and longer outer coat, which can come in a dazzling array of colors, from orange and black to cream and sable. Their bright, alert expressions are complemented by intelligent, sparkly eyes and small, erect ears.

A centerpiece of their personality is their bold and spirited nature. Despite their diminutive size, they exhibit a remarkable level of confidence and curiosity. Pomeranians are known to be quite vocal, often barking to alert their owners of strange sounds or new guests. They are smart and respond well to training, although their independent streak may require some patience.
