Cirneco dell'Etna

The Cirneco dell'Etna is a rare and ancient breed originating from Sicily, with a lineage tracing back over 2,000 years. This breed is characterized by its sleek and athletic build, standing at around 16 to 19 inches tall and weighing between 17 to 26 pounds. They are best known for their striking, graceful appearance, with a coat that ranges from light tan to chestnut, often with lighter shading on the underbelly.

These dogs are equipped with large, pointed ears and a sharp, inquisitive gaze that reflects their keen intelligence and alert nature. Originally bred for hunting small game in the rugged terrain surrounding Mount Etna, the Cirneco dell'Etna showcases incredible agility, endurance, and a strong prey drive. While generally good-natured, Cirnecos are independent and can be somewhat reserved with strangers, though socialization from a young age can help mitigate shyness.
