Border Terrier
The Border Terrier is a small, sturdy, and energetic breed, originally developed for fox hunting along the border between England and Scotland. Known for their distinctive otter-shaped heads and dense, wiry double coats, these dogs exhibit an unkempt but charming appearance. They typically possess a keen, intelligent expression with dark, lively eyes and small, V-shaped ears that drop forward. Border Terriers are characterized by their affectionate and playful nature, making them excellent companions for families and individuals alike.
Despite their compact size, they are surprisingly agile and have a strong desire to work, often thriving in activities like agility and Earthdog trials. Their tenacity and determination are complemented by an innate friendliness towards people and other animals. They generally stand around 10-11 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh between 11.5-15.5 pounds. Renowned for their strong prey drive, they require adequate exercise and mental stimulation to keep them content and prevent boredom. With their good-natured temperament and adventurous spirit, Border Terriers are both affectionate pets and loyal working dogs.
