Siamese
Siamese cats trace to Thailand, historically Siam, and are one of the foundation colorpoint breeds in the modern cat fancy. Their pale bodies and darker points on the ears, mask, tail, and legs come from temperature-sensitive pigment, with seal, blue, chocolate, and lilac among familiar point colors. Some lines are slender and wedge-headed, while traditional Thai-style Siamese are more moderate, so the name can cover more than one body style.
A Siamese is usually a social, vocal cat that wants regular interaction rather than a quiet background role. Owners need to provide climbing places, play, and companionship, and many do best where people enjoy a talkative cat. Breeders should be clear about whether they raise modern Siamese, traditional Siamese, or Thai-type cats, and should discuss health screening such as eye, dental, and heart concerns where relevant. Coat care is simple, but emotional and mental engagement are central to the breed.
