Ragdoll
The Ragdoll is a large blue-eyed pointed cat developed in California from selected domestic longhaired cats. It has a soft semilong coat, substantial body, and color patterns such as colorpoint, mitted, bicolor, lynx point, and tortie point. Traditional colors include seal, blue, chocolate, lilac, red, and cream, with point color deepening as kittens mature. The breed name comes from its relaxed handling reputation, though individual cats still vary.
Ragdolls are usually managed as indoor companion cats because their trusting style and pale point coat fit secure household life better than roaming. The coat needs regular combing, especially behind the ears and under the legs, but it is generally less dense than a Persian coat. Responsible breeders discuss hypertrophic cardiomyopathy testing, pedigree history, and color or pattern expectations. Owners should keep these large cats lean, provide gentle play, and avoid assuming that a calm cat needs no enrichment or handling boundaries.
