Nebelung
The Nebelung is a semilonghaired blue cat breed developed in the United States from Russian Blue-type cats that carried longer coats. The name suggests mist, which fits the blue-gray coat with silver tipping, green eyes, and a fine-boned foreign body. It is close in appearance and temperament to the Russian Blue, but the soft medium-length coat and plumed tail separate it from the shorthaired breed. Genuine Nebelung identity usually depends on documented breeding, because many attractive blue longhaired domestic cats resemble it.
Nebelungs often do best in calm homes where routine is respected and trust can build gradually. The coat needs light but regular combing, especially behind the ears, under the front legs, and around the tail, though it is not as heavy as a Persian coat. Breeders should preserve green eye color, blue coat quality, moderate structure, and enough genetic breadth for a small population. Adopters should be honest about whether a cat is a registered Nebelung or a domestic cat of similar appearance.
