Lykoi
The Lykoi is a partially hairless, roan-coated cat breed developed from natural mutations affecting the hair follicles. Its name comes from the wolf-like appearance created by sparse facial hair, a dark roan coat, and exposed skin around the eyes, muzzle, or legs. Lykoi cats are not Sphynx cats, and the breed does not rely on the same hairless mutation. Coat coverage can change with shedding cycles, so a single photograph may not show the cat's lasting appearance.
Lykoi ownership involves ordinary cat care plus extra attention to skin and coat condition. Sparse areas may collect oil, and pale exposed skin should be protected from strong sun. These cats still need warmth, scratching options, play, and routine grooming with a light hand. Breeders should document the natural Lykoi mutation, avoid confusing it with illness, and screen for general feline health rather than selecting only for the starkest coat. Buyers should expect variation: a healthy Lykoi may look patchier at some times of year than others.
