Pied
A pied reticulated python, or piebald retic, is a morph of Python reticulatus marked by irregular areas of white or near-white skin broken by patterned patches. The amount and placement of white can vary widely, from modest sections to bold high-white animals, so no two pieds look exactly alike. In reticulated python breeding the term refers to a color-pattern mutation, not to a separate natural population, and it is often discussed alongside related high-contrast projects such as cow and albino pied combinations.
The pale areas do not change the basic husbandry needs of the snake. Pied retics need the same tropical conditions, escape-proof enclosure design, and careful feeding routine as other reticulated pythons. White skin can make small rubs, stuck shed, or minor abrasions easier to notice, which is useful but not a substitute for good enclosure surfaces and humidity. Breeders should pair pied animals with a clear understanding of the inheritance involved, while buyers should remember that a dramatic pattern does not make a giant constrictor easier to house or handle.
