Lavender Albino
The lavender albino reticulated python is an albino phase or line of Python reticulatus with a lavender, lilac, or purple cast under yellow and orange patterning. Like other albinos, it lacks the normal dark melanin, so the eyes are typically red or pink and the usual black retic markings are replaced by pale contrast. The look is especially popular in combination animals because lavender albino can interact strongly with tiger, genetic stripe, goldenchild, motley, and other pattern genes. Hatchlings and adults may differ in tone, with color changing after sheds and as the animal grows.
Care does not differ much from other reticulated pythons, although shaded hides and gentle lighting help pale-eyed snakes feel secure. The larger questions are adult size, enclosure strength, humidity, safe heating, and whether the keeper has experience with large constrictors. Feeding should be steady rather than excessive, since rapid growth can make housing and handling problems appear quickly. Breeders need to know whether a snake is a visual lavender albino, a carrier of an albino allele, or part of a multi-gene project before making pairings.
