Juliana

The Juliana, sometimes called the painted miniature pig, is a small spotted domestic pig type promoted for companion homes. It is usually described as longer-legged and leaner than the Vietnamese potbellied pig, with a straight profile, small upright ears, and spots over a white, cream, red, or darker base coat. The name is not applied consistently, and many pigs sold as Juliana are mixed miniature pigs rather than animals from a closed, well-documented breed population.

Size claims deserve caution because pigs continue maturing for several years and even a small adult is strong, social, and highly intelligent. A companion Juliana needs legal housing, another compatible pig or frequent social contact, an outdoor area for rooting, weatherproof shelter, and a controlled diet based on mini-pig pellets and forage rather than dog food or table scraps. Spaying or neutering, hoof trimming, tusk care in males, and access to an experienced veterinarian are part of responsible ownership.
