Taiwan Dog

The Taiwan Dog is a rare and ancient breed hailing from the mountainous regions of Taiwan, embodying both a rich history and a unique set of characteristics. Considered a national treasure in its homeland, this medium-sized, agile breed exhibits a strong resemblance to primitive dogs. Taiwan Dogs typically stand between 17 to 20 inches tall and weigh around 26 to 40 pounds. They have a short, dense coat that comes in a variety of colors including black, white, brindle, and fawn, often complemented by a striking mask-like pattern on their face.

Known for their intelligence and keen sense of awareness, Taiwan Dogs are excellent watchdogs and versatile companions. They have an independent spirit but are also known to be deeply loyal and devoted to their human families. This breed thrives on mental and physical stimulation, requiring plenty of exercise and interactive activities. Historically used by indigenous peoples for hunting and protection, they possess a high prey drive and an instinctual knack for problem-solving.

Although they can be wary of strangers, with proper socialization and training, Taiwan Dogs can become well-adjusted pets that adapt to various living environments. They bond closely with their owners and are particularly good with children. With their adaptable nature and steadfast loyalty, the Taiwan Dog makes a diligent guardian and a cherished family member.
