Bernedoodle
The Bernedoodle is a purpose-bred companion dog developed from Bernese Mountain Dog and Poodle ancestry, usually standard Poodle for larger dogs and miniature or toy Poodle in smaller lines. It is a crossbreed rather than a single fixed purebred, so size, coat, build, and temperament vary by generation. Many are black, rust, and white like a Bernese mountain dog, while others are bicolor or show patterns from mixed breeder lines. Coats range from loose waves to tight curls, and the common claim of being hypoallergenic should be treated cautiously.
Good Bernedoodle breeding depends on more than matching two popular breeds. Buyers should ask what generation the litter is, the adult size of both parents, and whether the breeder screens for hip and elbow dysplasia, eye disease, cardiac concerns, and inherited conditions known in the parent breeds. These dogs usually need steady companionship, training, and moderate daily activity; the larger ones can be strong and slow to mature. Curly and wavy coats mat if they are not brushed and clipped regularly, even when shedding is low.
