Happy Toy Doodles

Happy Top Doodles, run by Cathy Prather out of Calhoun, Georgia, raises goldendoodles and bernedoodles in a home-based setting in the foothills of northwest Georgia, about an hour north of Atlanta.

The program got its start in 2018 as a small family operation, and every member of the household takes a hand in daily puppy care. All dogs live inside the home rather than in a kennel, and the family regularly brings them along on hikes and other outings. Some dogs participate through a guardian home arrangement, living full-time with approved families nearby and returning only for breeding and whelping.

Before any pairing, every breeding dog completes a full health-testing protocol that includes OFA evaluations for hips, elbows, patellas, and heart, OFA eye certifications through a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist, and comprehensive DNA panel testing to screen for breed-specific genetic conditions. Puppies follow the Puppy Culture framework from birth, receiving Early Neurological Stimulation starting at day three and Early Scent Introduction alongside it. Both goldendoodle and bernedoodle puppies in the program are bred in mini and medium sizes, with adult weights generally ranging from around 25 to 50 pounds.
