Ga Noi
Gà Nòi, commonly written Ga Noi, is a Vietnamese gamefowl type rather than a uniform backyard layer breed. It includes hard-feathered, muscular chickens selected for strength, stamina and a high, alert carriage. Many lines have sparse feathering on the neck, thighs or breast, red skin and powerful legs, although appearance varies between regions and family strains. The name overlaps with traditional fighting-cock culture, but the birds are also kept for meat, exhibition, preservation and as part of Vietnam's poultry heritage.
Anyone keeping Ga Noi should treat them as gamefowl. Mature males can be territorial and may need individual pens or carefully managed yards, especially where several roosters are present. Handling is easier when birds are accustomed to people from a young age, but their strength and spurs deserve respect. Feeding should support muscle and bone without making birds overweight. Cockfighting is illegal or heavily restricted in many places, so buyers and breeders should understand local laws and focus on lawful husbandry, conservation or exhibition uses.
