Oriental Shorthair
The Oriental Shorthair is a Siamese-family breed with a long, fine body, wedge-shaped head, large flared ears, almond eyes, and an extremely short, close coat. It was developed to carry the Oriental type in many colors and patterns beyond the traditional pointed Siamese palette. Solid ebony, chestnut, blue, lavender, cinnamon, fawn, smoke, tabby, tortie, and bicolor patterns can all be part of the breed depending on the registry.
Oriental Shorthairs are usually demanding in the best practical sense: they want people, play, height, and conversation. Their coat needs little more than hand grooming or a soft brush, but their minds need far more engagement than their grooming routine suggests. Breeders should protect sound body structure, good teeth, and healthy family lines while avoiding exaggeration of the head or ears. Buyers should expect a cat that may follow household activity closely and should plan for companionship, enrichment, and clear breeder records.
