Mekong Bobtail
The Mekong Bobtail is a colorpoint bobtailed cat associated with Southeast Asian ancestry and later breed development in Russia and nearby countries. It has blue eyes, a short coat, darker point coloring, and a naturally kinked short tail whose shape is expected to be individual. Older references may use Thai bobtail-type names, but Mekong Bobtail is the more specific modern label in many breed discussions. The body is usually moderate, long-lined, and athletic rather than heavy.
Care is much like that of other active, people-oriented shorthaired cats, with added attention to documenting the tail. The tail should be flexible enough for comfort and should never be pulled or treated as a handle. Colorpoint coats can darken with age and in cooler body areas, so photographs and records may change over time. Breeders should preserve clear blue eyes, stable temperament, and sound tail structure while avoiding confusion with Japanese Bobtails or ordinary pointed cats whose tails were injured.
