Javanese

Javanese is a registry-dependent name for a Siamese-family cat, most often a semilonghaired colorpoint with the long, fine body and wedge-shaped head of the Oriental and Balinese group. In some systems the name has been folded into Balinese or Oriental Longhair divisions, while in others it refers to point colors beyond the traditional Siamese set, such as lynx, tortie, cream, or red points. The coat is silky and close-lying rather than heavy, with a plumed tail and blue eyes.

This is a social, vocal, highly engaged cat that usually does best in homes prepared for interaction, climbing space, and routine play. The semilong coat needs light combing, especially around the tail and britches, but it lacks the dense undercoat of many longhaired breeds. Anyone breeding or buying a Javanese should check the registry definition being used, because the same cat may be recorded under another Siamese-family label. Health attention is similar to related Oriental lines, with emphasis on sound structure, dental care, and careful pedigree choices.
