Devon Rex
The Devon Rex is a curly-coated domestic cat breed that originated in Devon, England, in the twentieth century. It has a soft wavy coat, large low-set ears, high cheekbones, and a light, active frame that gives the breed a recognizable outline. Many coat colors and patterns are accepted because Devon Rex identity comes from type and coat texture rather than one color. The breed is usually lively, social, and closely involved with household activity.
A Devon Rex often seeks warmth, climbing spots, play, and regular contact with its people. The short coat may shed less visibly than many coats, but it is not a reliable answer for allergy sufferers, and some cats need skin or ear cleaning when oils build up. Gentle grooming, nail care, dental care, and protection from cold drafts are practical parts of ownership. Breeders should discuss heart health, patellar issues, kitten development, and any screening used in their lines.
