Furball Critters

Furball Critters raises chinchillas in the Santa Cruz Mountains of California, about 35 miles south of San Jose, alongside Syrian hamsters, Campbell's dwarf hamsters, fancy rats, and Holland lop rabbits. Diane Kipnis has operated the program since at least 2011, when she expanded beyond dwarf hamsters and adopted the Furball Critters name, adding chinchillas — including standard gray and color mutation varieties — a few years later.

Families looking for chinchillas for sale in California can visit by appointment, as Furball Critters operates out of a dedicated animal room custom-built for the collection rather than a conventional retail space. The operation holds a USDA breeder license and serves both individual families and small independent pet stores throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
