Cumulet
The Cumulet is an old high-flying pigeon breed, especially associated with France and Belgium, once valued for long, high flights rather than ornate show features. It is usually a clean, fairly plain pigeon compared with heavily decorated fancy breeds, and its reputation rests on endurance, height, and loft loyalty. White birds are often mentioned, though color can vary by line.
Cumulets are best managed as athletes. They need a dry loft, controlled feeding, gradual conditioning, and safe flying weather. Breeders should select for stamina, orientation, strong wings, and recovery after flight rather than only appearance. Because high-flying work can be demanding, young birds should be trained patiently. Fanciers who maintain Cumulets help preserve a performance tradition that is easy to lose if birds are kept only as generic white pigeons.
