Aachen Cropper
The Aachen Cropper is a German fancy pigeon from the cropper or pouter family, associated with the Aachen region. Its defining feature is the inflated crop, or globe, that the bird displays during courtship and show handling. Like other croppers, it is bred for posture, balance, feather condition, and the controlled presentation of the crop rather than for racing or meat production.
Keepers need lofts that protect Aachen Croppers from rough birds, because an overinflated crop can be vulnerable to injury. Perches, nest boxes, and feed stations should allow them to move without constant bumping or crowding. Breeders select for sound bodies, crop shape, carriage, fertility, and calm handling. The breed suits experienced fancy-pigeon keepers who understand that extreme display traits require careful housing and regular observation.
