Norwegian Lundehund
The Norwegian Lundehund is a distinctive and agile breed known for its unique anatomical features and its historical role as a puffin-hunting dog in the rugged landscapes of Norway. Medium-small in size, these dogs are characterized by their athletic build, enabling them to navigate the challenging terrains of the cliffs and crevices of their native land. The most striking feature of the Lundehund is its incredible flexibility and polydactyl feet, boasting six toes on each paw, which enhance their climbing ability. In addition, they have remarkable neck flexibility that allows their head to bend backwards along the spine, and they possess the ability to close their ears to protect against debris and water. The Lundehund sports a dense, double-layered coat ranging in hues from red to gray and black, often with white and tan markings, providing both camouflage and protection from the harsh Nordic climate.
Temperamentally, Norwegian Lundehunds are intelligent, adventurous, and playful, although they can be somewhat independent and reserved.
