Wendt Ranches Partners LLC has been raising Santa Gertrudis cattle in Bay City, Texas, in the heart of Matagorda County on the Texas Gulf Coast, since the family's roots in the breed stretch back to 1954. That year, Dan Wendt and his father R.A. registered herd #621 with Santa Gertrudis Breeders International and committed from the outset to rigorous performance testing — a philosophy the operation has carried forward through every generation.

The ranch's founding principle centers on producing predictable, profitable, heat-tolerant genetics that perform both on the hoof and on the rail. Performance records have guided selection decisions for decades, allowing the herd to earn a reputation well beyond Matagorda County. From the 1970s through the 2000s, cattle from the operation were exported to buyers in Argentina, Brazil, Morocco, Australia, Russia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Mexico, Canada, South Africa, and throughout the United States.

Dan and Jane Wendt were both inducted into the SGBI Hall of Fame for their leadership and contributions to the breed, and the program has now transitioned into its fourth generation of family ownership. Today, Wendt Ranches Partners LLC continues that multigenerational legacy, making it one of the most historically rooted sources for registered Santa Gertrudis cattle for sale in Texas. The operation also runs American Red and Red Angus programs under the same performance-based approach, with headquarters situated about an hour southwest of Houston.
