Dietrichs Flying D Ranch

Dietrich's Flying D Ranch has raised registered polled Santa Gertrudis cattle on Florida range pastures east of Orlando since 1957, making it one of the longest-running programs of its kind in the Southeast.

The ranch is a roughly 600-acre family operation with its main gate in Bithlo, situated along the Econlockhatchee River corridor and its hardwood wetlands — terrain that has shaped a low-input, pasture-based management approach backed by careful use of technology for breeding selection. Fred Dietrich's connection to the breed runs deep: he first showed registered polled Santa Gertrudis cattle as a 4-H member at age 12 and went on to become a pioneer in the use of artificial insemination for herd management. His program has placed a consistent emphasis on performance, conformation, and pedigree.

Beyond the cattle operation, Dietrich served 30 years as a vocational agriculture educator in Orange County and held leadership roles with the Orange County Cattlemen's Association, the Florida Cattlemen's Association, and the Orange County Farm Bureau. He has been inducted into the Santa Gertrudis Breeders International Hall of Fame and the Florida Agricultural Hall of Fame.
