Carrie graduated from Hólar University in Iceland in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science as a certified trainer and instructor — only the second American to complete the program — and was awarded the Morgunblaðið Award for best riding and horsemanship. Her introduction to the breed came more than twenty years ago under the mentorship of Guðmar Pétursson. Terral holds certification as a young horse trainer, has worked with respected trainers in Iceland, and has reached the top of the U.S. National Ranking in Five Gait, also holding U.S. records in PP1 Pace Test as a USIHC National Team Member.

That competitive and educational foundation informs the care each horse receives at Taktur. Farrier work follows the specific shoeing regulations required for Icelandic horse competition, with Terral having shod Icelandic horses in both Iceland and the U.S. for over a decade.
