Harmony Icelandics

Harmony Icelandics breeds and trains Icelandic horses on a farm outside Truro, Iowa, roughly an hour south of Des Moines. Owner Virginia Lauridsen has been involved with the breed since 2013, when she imported her first four horses from Iceland, and has built the program into one of the more active Icelandic horse operations in the Midwest.

Virginia holds a certificate from Hólar University in Iceland for completion of Levels 1–4 of the Knapamerki program and is a Level 1 FEIF Certified Trainer. She currently serves as President and Breeding Chair for the United States Icelandic Horse Congress and was principal author of the organization's Breeding Manual, completed in 2022. The farm itself features a FEIF-sanctioned oval track and breeding track and has hosted shows, evaluations, and clinics on site.

Harmony Icelandics works in partnership with Hallkelsstaðahlíð, a breeding farm in Iceland, to import horses selected for calm temperament and training ability. Riding instruction for beginning and intermediate riders is also offered through the program.
