Romanian Moriscar Roller

Romanian Moriscar roller is a Romanian roller label, probably tied to a local line or family name within the rolling-pigeon tradition. Rollers differ from ordinary tumblers by being selected for a more pronounced backward rolling action, though the exact style, depth, and frequency expected can vary by community. The Moriscar part of the name should be treated as a specialist identifier unless a local standard defines it more fully.

Management should keep performance and welfare together. Young rollers need careful conditioning and observation so birds that roll too early, too deep, or without recovery are not favored. Breeders select for control, health, kit behavior, and the type associated with the Moriscar name. In small preservation lofts, recording which pairings produce safe, consistent rollers is more useful than chasing dramatic but unreliable movement.
