Fuzzy
In fancy mouse discussions, a fuzzy mouse is usually a domestic mouse, Mus musculus, selected or described for a soft, woolly, short, or slightly curly coat. The term is informal compared with long-established color varieties, and it should not be confused with a feeder "fuzzy," which is a young mouse at a stage of fur growth. Depending on the line, fuzzy coats may appear with standard fancy colors such as black, chocolate, blue, champagne, cream, fawn, lilac, red, Himalayan, Siamese, and marked patterns. Recognition and exact appearance vary among breeders.
Care is similar to other fancy mice, but the coat makes close inspection worthwhile. Keep bedding dry and low in dust, and check for skin irritation, thinning hair, barbering, or debris trapped in the fur. A secure ventilated cage is still essential. Hides, safe nesting material, and a balanced rodent diet meet the same basic needs as other mice. Breeding should be based on healthy skin, functional whiskers, good movement, and calm temperament rather than coat novelty alone. If the term is being used by a seller, asking whether it means coat variety or feeder age prevents misunderstanding.
