Aksaray Malaklisi
The Aksaray Malaklisi is a very large Turkish guardian dog associated with Aksaray in central Anatolia. It is often discussed alongside Anatolian and Kangal-type livestock guardian dogs, but supporters describe it as a heavier regional type with a broad head, loose lips, powerful frame, short coat, and commonly fawn coloring with a dark mask. The name "malakli" is linked in popular usage to the dog's pronounced lips or jowls. Documentation and recognition vary, so claims about purity and history should be read carefully.
This is a serious working dog rather than an oversized yard guardian. Mature Aksaray Malaklisi can be difficult to manage without acreage, strong fencing, livestock-guardian experience, and a clear plan for visitors, neighbors, and other dogs. Puppies grow rapidly, making controlled exercise, appropriate nutrition, and attention to joints especially important. Good breeders should prioritize stable nerves, functional movement, and sound health over extreme size or aggressive marketing. Outside Turkey, prospective owners may face limited registry support and inconsistent naming, so verifying source, temperament, and working background matters before importing or buying.
