Khao Manee
The Khao Manee is a Thai shorthaired cat with a pure white coat and vivid eyes that may be blue, gold, greenish, or odd-colored. Its name is often linked with a jewel or diamond-eyed appearance, and the breed belongs to Thai cat tradition rather than to modern colorpoint programs. Most Khao Manees are medium-sized, muscular, smooth-coated cats with a natural working-cat build and an alert expression. Coat color alone is not enough to identify the breed, since many white domestic cats can look similar without the same background.
Human care is shaped by the same traits that make the breed visually memorable. White cats with blue or odd eyes may have hearing differences, so responsible breeders and owners take hearing awareness seriously and use formal testing when available. The short coat is simple to maintain, but indoor life or protected outdoor access helps limit sun exposure on pale ears and noses. Because Khao Manees remain scarce outside Thai and specialist breeding circles, buyers should ask for pedigree details, health records, and temperament notes before focusing on eye color.
