Galaxy Koi
Galaxy koi bettas are fancy Betta splendens that combine koi-style marbling with scattered iridescent or metallic speckling, often described as galaxy spots. The pattern may include red, orange, black, white, blue, turquoise, or coppery highlights, and no two fish are exactly patterned alike. Most galaxy koi bettas come from marble-based color lines, so their appearance can continue to shift as they mature. The label describes color and pattern rather than fin form; galaxy koi fish may be plakat, halfmoon, delta, dumbo, or another tail type.
For buyers, the main point is that a photographed juvenile may not look the same months later. Color change is normal in many koi and galaxy lines, while sudden fading with lethargy, clamped fins, or poor appetite is not. Breeding for galaxy koi is unpredictable, because siblings can vary widely in base color, spot density, metallic sheen, and final pattern. Keepers should judge the whole fish as well as the color: clear eyes, good body shape, strong swimming, and fins suited to the intended tank. A calm, heated aquarium and clean water help these bright patterns show well without turning color into the only measure of quality.
