Delta
Delta bettas are domestic Betta splendens selected for a triangular, fan-shaped caudal fin that widens from the body like the Greek letter delta. In hobby use, delta usually refers to the tail form rather than a separate breed, and the fish may appear in many color lines including butterfly, cambodian, copper, dragon scale, marble-influenced patterns, and solid reds or blues. A true delta does not open to a full 180 degrees like a halfmoon; fish approaching that spread are often sold as super delta.
Care is the same as for other fancy bettas, but the longer tail needs calm water and clean, warm conditions to stay intact. A heated, filtered aquarium with gentle flow is far better than an unheated bowl, and sharp plastic decor can shred fin edges. Buyers comparing delta bettas should look for an active fish with even fin rays, no pinholes or clamped fins, and a body that is not shortened or bent. Breeders pair for tail spread, body strength, and color stability, because finnage alone does not make a healthy line.
