Cellophane
Cellophane bettas are pale, translucent-looking domestic Betta splendens with greatly reduced visible pigment. The fins may look clear like plastic wrap, and the body can appear pinkish, whitish, or glassy because blood vessels and underlying tissues show through. Unlike true albino fish, most cellophane bettas have normal dark eyes. The label is a color description that can appear with several fin types, including halfmoon, plakat, veiltail, and crowntail.
The clear fins do not require special equipment, but they can make early fin damage or faint infections harder to see. A clean, heated, cycled tank and gentle flow help protect delicate fin edges, especially in long-finned fish. Color may develop as the fish matures, and marble genetics can turn a cellophane-looking juvenile into a patterned adult. Breeding for cellophane is not always predictable, so careful records of parent colors are more useful than appearance at purchase.
