Mountain Top Farms

Mountain Top Farms chinchillas are raised in the North Carolina mountains near Asheville. Deb Clemens has been breeding chinchillas for more than a decade under American Chinchilla Rabbit Breeders Association standards, and she oversees regular wellness checks and routine care. She holds a state breeding license and participates in annual health seminars through the American Chinchilla Rabbit Breeders Association. Each animal enjoys daily social interaction in custom-designed habitats with soft bedding, controlled temperatures and access to natural dust baths.

The farm operates from a family homestead with a philosophy centered on gentle handling and environmental enrichment. Natural hay and specialized pellets form the core diet, and all breeding stock undergoes regular veterinary oversight for respiratory and dental health. Visitors often note the calm demeanor of the chinchillas, reflecting a consistent focus on early socialization and spacious exercise areas. All animals go through wellness screening before placement to support lifelong health.
