Milne's Gelbvieh

Milne's Gelbvieh has been raising purebred Gelbvieh cattle along the Peace River south of Fairview, Alberta since 1972, making it one of the longest-running Gelbvieh seedstock operations in Canada.

Harold and Bev Milne carry forward a program rooted in the work of the late John Milne, who was among the first five producers to import Gelbvieh cattle into Canada from Germany. One of those original imports, Canadian Pioneer, went on to earn the distinction of the number one calving ease sire in both Canada and the United States, and a female import known as Pride of Dunvagen became a cornerstone of the herd's foundation genetics.

Over the decades, the Milne family showcased their herd at Farm Fair in Edmonton for 25 consecutive years, accumulating numerous show titles. Today the program produces purebred Gelbvieh bulls and females alongside Balancer-bred calves, a cross between purebred Gelbvieh and purebred Angus recognized by the Gelbvieh Association. Harold and Bev have adopted a May calving program that yields long yearling bulls for their annual bull sale. Located in Alberta's Peace Country, roughly two hours southwest of Peace River town, the ranch is a well-established source of Gelbvieh cattle for sale in northern Alberta and beyond.
