MC Ranch

MC Ranch raises Santa Gertrudis cattle in the northwest Georgia foothills, with Alpharetta serving as the mailing address for a property the McDaniel family has owned and operated since the 1830s. Judy McDaniel and her children — Wes, Ali, Anna, and Will — now run the ranch together, continuing the work begun by the late Dr. Burton McDaniel, who first introduced Santa Gertrudis-influenced cattle to the herd in the 1970s and began showing them in 1990.

The ranch's show record is one of the longest-running in the breed, with national champion females and bulls produced consistently since MC Scarlet claimed the first National Champion Female title in 1992. MC Ranch earned the Santa Gertrudis Breeders International Breeder of the Year Award five consecutive years, and multiple McDaniel family members have served in leadership roles within both SGBI and the National Junior Santa Gertrudis Association, including a former SGBI president and two former National Junior queens.

Beyond the show ring, the ranch's current focus is the NuGen genetics project, a collaborative effort with Wendt Ranches and Goodin Farms to reintroduce foundation-ratio Brahman and Shorthorn genetics into Santa Gertrudis cattle for increased hybrid vigor.
