LBJ Farms

LBJ Farms, Large Black pigs, Indian River County, Florida is located on the Treasure Coast near Vero Beach. It is family owned and has been raising Large Black pigs for more than a decade under American Livestock Breeds Conservancy guidelines. Routine health screenings and genetic evaluations are completed quarterly by a licensed veterinarian to support herd integrity and minimize inherited conditions.

Pigs are raised on fresh pasture with rotational grazing that encourages natural foraging and stronger hoof health, with access to shaded paddocks near a woodland edge. Litters are introduced to daily handling shortly after birth to encourage gentle temperaments and ease of management, while still nursing. Feed is formulated on site with local grains and mineral supplements to meet breed standards without artificial additives or growth promoters.

The farm emphasizes heritage breed preservation alongside sustainable land stewardship on its wooded acreage. Visitors often remark on the pigs’ calm behavior and the farm’s tranquil oak groves.
