Hogs & Horns Homestead

Hogs & Horns Homestead are breeders of Large Black pigs in Lavoy, Alberta, in Central Alberta near Edmonton.

They have been raising Large Black pigs for several years and maintain membership in national breeding associations, while conducting routine health screenings, including DNA and parasite checks, for their herd. Their pasture-based pens feature open-air huts and sheltering areas that allow pigs to forage naturally, and the Bakers follow a hands-on approach to ensure each piglet receives early socialization.

During local agricultural fairs, the homestead regularly and actively shares insights on sustainable pig farming and connects with community members interested in heritage breeds. The homestead’s gentle approach has earned praise from local farmers impressed by the pigs’ balanced temperament and robust health.
