Eileen Davidson and her husband Vernon raise Gelbvieh cattle on their ranch south of Ponteix, Saskatchewan, in the wide-open ranch country of southwest Saskatchewan, roughly an hour from Swift Current. The operation has deep roots in the region — Vernon grew up learning cattle breeding, selection, and AI techniques from his father on a nearby grain and commercial cattle operation, and the couple purchased their first Gelbvieh cow in 1985.

Now in its fourth decade, Davidson Gelbvieh holds an annual bull sale that has become a well-known event among Gelbvieh producers across western Canada. The program has developed its own recognized bloodlines, and genetics from the operation have reached buyers well beyond the province, including international markets through embryo sales. The family has also participated in breed improvement programs abroad and has judged cattle across Canada and internationally.
