Over the decades, Vernon and Eileen adopted the polled gene as a core part of their breeding direction, and bulls are DNA tested before sale to identify which animals carry the homozygous polled trait. Davidson Gelbvieh has a long track record at major Canadian livestock exhibitions, including Canadian Western Agribition in Regina, where the operation has competed for decades. In 2025, Vernon and Eileen were named Purebred Gelbvieh Breeder of the Year by the Manitoba/Saskatchewan Gelbvieh Association. Their annual bull sale, now in its fourth decade, is held at the ranch near Ponteix and draws buyers from across Canada.
